In the war-torn landscape of Yemen, where poverty and hardship are everyday realities, Shafiq Awad Talib's story stands as a testament to resilience and determination. With each passing day, the war's toll on his family became increasingly apparent, as they fought tirelessly to secure their daily livelihood amidst dwindling resources and economic instability.
For Shafiq, the impact of war extended far beyond the confines of his home. Hindered by poverty and the relentless spread of conflict, he found himself facing a battle of a different kind—a battle against anemia. Unbeknownst to him and his family, the silent menace of iron deficiency was quietly wreaking havoc on his health and well-being, sapping his energy and hindering his ability to focus on his studies.

As Shafiq's academic performance continued to suffer, it became clear that intervention was needed. Recognizing the urgent need for support, the Light Foundation, in collaboration with UNICEF, launched an anti-anemia program aimed at addressing the health needs of adolescents like Shafiq. Through the program, Shafiq was provided with essential iron, folic acid, and deworming tablets, marking the beginning of his journey towards recovery and academic success.
The transformation that followed was nothing short of remarkable. With each passing day, Shafiq's health began to improve, his once-pale complexion giving way to a renewed sense of vitality and energy. Buoyed by his newfound health, Shafiq's academic performance soared, as he excelled in his studies and actively participated in school activities.
But Shafiq's journey was not without its challenges. In a country ravaged by conflict and humanitarian crisis, the road to success was fraught with obstacles. Yet, through sheer determination and the unwavering support of his family and community, Shafiq persevered, emerging stronger and more resilient than ever before.
